about
Amanda Blake is a lens-based artist, writer, and cultural worker with her Honours BFA in Film Production and Creative Writing at Simon Fraser University. She humbly works on the unceded ancestral territories of the Musqueam, Kwikwetlem, Tsleil-Waututh and Squamish nations, otherwise known as Vancouver, BC.
Her creative work explores nuanced, socially relevant topics, often in the form of hybrid documentary, experimental, and narrative dramas. She is most interested in stories that are character and/or people-driven. Her work has been screened and published in both national and international venues and presses.
In her professional career, she has found a foothold in the Vancouver arts community in administrative and management roles. As a self-proclaimed jack-of-all-trades woman, she has filled a variety of roles from festival production management, fundraising administrative support, box office, and so much more. Historically, she has worked with The Chutzpah! Festival, PuSh International Performing Arts Festival, Inlet Theatre, and The Cinematheque. Currently, she holds the position of Production Manager for the Renfrew Ravine Moon Festival.
When not creating words, images, or spreadsheets, she can most often be found playing various role-playing board or video games, climbing up a mountain, or petting her well-deserving Miniature Australian Shepherd Juno.
